John Shean is a native of California who obtained his B.A. in History and Political Science from Claremont McKenna College in 1978. He received a J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, in 1981. From 1981 to 1988 John practiced insurance defense law at the firm of Wise, Wiezorek, Timmons and Wise in Los Angeles. John moved to Bloomington, Indiana in 1988 where he became the Executive Director for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. In 1990 he returned to the practice of law in Bloomington, becoming the Founding Partner in Shean Law Offices, which specializes in personal injury, worker's compensation, insurance law, business litigation and nonprofit.

| John is a Member of the Monroe County, the Indiana and the California Bar Associations, the Christian Legal Society, and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. He has served as a volunteer board member for many nonprofit organizations including LifeSpeed Foundation, the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Bloomington, Kid’s Chance of Indiana, and Teen Life Productions. In 2004, John was first named an Indiana “Super Lawyer” by Law and Politics magazine. Currently, John is also the Chairman of the Monroe County Republican Party.

John is one of the founding board members of Heart of Sailing, Inc. He loves boating, sailing, golfing and football. John can be heard each fall on WVNI-FM Radio 95.1 as a high school football commentator. He and his wife, Cheryl, have one son, Michael.
