Dave is a highly accomplished sailor who began his sailing journey more than 60 years ago. He began sailing at a very early age in the many waters on and around Long Island, New York. He has since had many adventures in both the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans, the Caribbean Sea as well as in the Gulf of Mexico.
Early in his professional career, he was an astronautical engineer working in the Air Force and NASA space programs; he has since retired as an IBM Executive. Dave and his family moved to the Houston area more than 40 years ago. He and his Margie, wife of 45 years, are the proud parents of three children and 7 grandchildren.
A licensed captain as well as a trans-Atlantic sailor, Dave is the owner of the Blue Marlin Sailing School which provides sailing lessons as well as conducts charters in Galveston Bay & the Gulf of Mexico; he also charters in numerous exotic spots of the Caribbean.
Dave is elated with the opportunity to contribute his knowledge, skills and resources to promote the Heart of Sailing’s mission for our special needs children. He has been recognized as the 2008 Heart of Sailing Captain of the Year.
